I recently saw the movie Hotel Rwanda for a Political Science class, prior to watching this movie I was unsure the details about this incident, now I cleary see that whether or not this was defined at the time as "genocide" it was. The fact that president Clinton commented that one of his biggest regrets was not intervening and helping in Rwanda should serve as reminder to American citizens that if something like this should ever happen again we should intervene. This incident that occurred in 1994 should have been considered genocide, why we did not consider it genocide is still something that I guess I will never completely understand, as I watched this movie and what these people went through I’m baffled as to why we did not get involved. To what extent were we “the U.S.” willing to wait before we did consider it genocide? If the death of over five hundred thousand Tutsi’s and Hutu’s was not enough I just don’t understand how many more deaths we were going to allow, even after all of those deaths we still did nothing to help Rwanda with a recovery of such a dreadful incident. Here's a video to moreless give you an idea of what went on during the Rwandan genocide.Genocide
